Improvements for 2000 include vibration alert, a useful option which silently alerts the user of an incoming call. Also new is an optional full duplex hands free kit for your vehicle. This system is also available with a smaller handset, a package called the Star2k (please inquire about this pacakge).

A notable feature of this long range cordless phone is the V.S.W.R. (voltage standing wave ratio) protection device. This device closely monitors the voltage of the incoming and outgoing signals. If there is a mismatch in voltage, the system automatically shuts down to prevent possible damage to the phone. The 868 also has an adjustable RF transmission power level; RF transmission can be lowered when the user will be in close range of the base, saving battery life. The phone drops into power save mode when out of range, monitoring for a signal every few seconds. The included rapid charger detects the power level of the battery and, if necessary, completely discharges the battery before charging. This process greatly extends the longevity of the batteries life by reducing the "memory" effect sometimes found in Ni-Cd batteries. Other notable features include 2 way paging with full duplex intercom, music on hold capability, and 20 number memory. The user will also like the illuminated key pad and LCD display (on both the base station and remote handset), and the base station speaker phone.

Also standard is a timer to monitor call length, any key answer, low battery alarm with power status display, programmable flash time, last number redial, adjustable ring tone, adjustable voice and ring volume, tone/pulse selection, and over 65,000 security code combinations. A military grade voice scrambler can be added if desired. The 868R is one of our highest quality phones and will stand up to years of abuse.
