Take a five-star award winning AV receiver, add a whole host of extra useful features and a tad more power and you have the exciting Yamaha RXV771
Like the Yamaha RX-V671, the RXV771 features a discrete amplifier and Pure Direct for higher quality audio, that's especially noticeable with music. The 7.2 amplifier also delivers 95 watts per channel which gives that bit more drive than its lowlier brother. If you have a larger room or trickier speakers, that extra power could make all the difference. The extra subwoofer output (making it a 7.2 AV receiver), also makes it ideal for lager home cinema systems with twin subs. As you'd expect from Yamaha, the digital processing is also first rate. In addition to full HD Audio decoding of both Dolby and DTS formats, the RXV771 features Yamaha's famous DSP Surround programs. With 17 modes from The Roxy Theatre to a concert Hall in Munich, the RXV771 gives a variety of acoustic settings simply not available on rivals. Added to this, SCENE selections ensure that you always have the correct setting when watching films or listening to music - at the touch of a button.
When it comes to connections, the RXV-V771 really impresses. In addition to the 671's comprehensive spec, the RXV771 adds an extra HDMI output - ideal for twin screen systems, full RCA pre-amp outputs for adding more powerful amplification and 4mm binding posts for Zone 2 speakers - plus the extra sub output. Added to this is extensive network connectivity. A LAN networking port is DLNA 1.5 certified for ease of connection with your home network hub. From here you cannot just access your stored music from PC, laptop or NAS drive but also listen to Internet radio stations and music services such as Napster. Another great feature is the downloadable Apple or Android app that lets you control many of the receiver's functions from your smartphone, iPod Touch or iPhone. Better still, with the latest version of this app you can also stream music from your phone to the receiver! As with the RXV671 you can also upscale all signals to HDMI at 1080p. This means that any source you connect into the receiver can be outputted via HDMI. Not only does this improve the picture quality, especially with upscaling to 1080p, but it also means just one HDMI connection between TV and receiver. With the added benefit of an Audio Return Channel, it's also possible to link your TV via just a single HDMI socket and both see the picture from sources and listen to the TV's sound through the receiver. The HDMI sockets are also compatible with the latest 3D formats, letting you use a 3D compatible Blu-ray player via the receiver. If you have an iPod or MP3 player, you'll appreciate the front panel mounted USB, too. By connecting to the USB, you'll benefit from a digital connection. This gives a direct signal and, hence, purer sound quality than using a conventional dock or analogue input. Plus it also charges your iPod/iPhone, too! If you don't have an iPod or iPhone, the USB socket will also accept music signals from other MP3 players or multi-media devices. When this is combined with the Compressed Music Enhancer you have a home system that will make the most of your iPod or MP3's music content. The Yamaha RXV771 is also equipped with a special socket that allows for the connection of optional YDS-12 or YID-W10 iPod docks. Once connected, you can control and display your iPod/iPhone information via the Yamaha's remote control. In the case of the RX-V771, the remote control features a learning facility, allowing you to use the one control for your entire system. Finally, the RX-V771 comes with Zone 2 control. Use active or passive outputs to power a second pair of speakers in another room.
Setting up and using the Yamaha RXV771 is easy thanks to YPAO. YPAO is an Automatic System Calibration that uses sophisticated equalisation to set the best sound for your room where ever your speakers are placed. With the RX-V771, the set-up system uses extra measurements over the lower models for even more precise set-up. There's also an advanced GUI (Graphical User Interface) display that makes it easy to adjust settings using an onscreen display.
With this much connectivity and class-leading sound to match, the Yamaha RX-V771 really could be all the AV receiver you'll ever need!
