Radio Scanner Interface for the SBS-1
Interface mechanism for connectivity to a range of popular radio scanners thus allowing users to watch aircraft and listen to air traffic in a single consolidated action.
Now, with two mouse clicks, an attached radio scanner will be automatically tuned to the frequencies selected. Frequencies can either be entered freehand or associated with waypoints.
For a list of scanners and receivers that can interface with the SBS-1, see below.
* PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A FIRMWARE UPGRADE. YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR SBS-1 SERIAL NUMBER IN THE "NOTES" SECTION WHEN ORDERING!
A suitable interface cable is required to connect the SBS-1 to any of the above scanners. These can be supplied at $39.99. In addition, please remember that the AR-8200 also requires the 8200-PC level converter at $169.99.
The initial release will ship with interface libraries for the ICOM IC-PCR1000, IC-PCR1500 & R1500, the AOR 8200 and the AOR 8600. The modular plug-in nature of the interface means that support for additional scanner models can be added easily, and many more interface modules are under development. The once off charge is for the Licence Key enabling your SBS-1 to interface with any of the above scanners.
Your "key" will be emailed to you enabling the RS232 serial port on the back of the SBS-1 to communicate with the scanner within a maximum of 72 hours after purchase.
Note for Icom IC-PCR1000 users:
If you have your PCR-1000 connected in the usual way (i.e. via the supplied RS-232 9 pin to 9 pin com lead between the unit and your PC) then NO EXTRA LEAD is required. If however you wish to connect via the com port socket on the back of the SBS-1 then you will require a custom made lead at $39.99. You can make your own and details are available on the Kinetic Forum.
