This system delivers the most robust combination of performance and value for your communication dollar.  It offers many advanced features in a rugged package that will stand up to years of abuse.  A powerful vibration alert, which is useful when you can not hear the phone ring or it would not be appropriate to have the phone ring (in a meeting for example), is standard.  The headset jack, also standard, allows for headset connection; this jack may also be fitted with an optional full duplex car kit with speaker phone.  The Star2k is an industrial system designed for use in the harshest operating environments.  The heavy duty fans on the power supply (picture below) keep the system operating at an optimal temperature.

On the phone a lot?  We bet you can t drain the 2100mAh NiMH rechargeable battery, delivering an incredible 3 hours of talk time or 80 hours of standby, before you can charge the spare.  A dead battery comes to life in only 2.5 hours thanks to the included dual slot rapid charger.  This charger detects the power level of the battery and, if necessary, completely discharges the battery before charging. This process greatly extends the longevity of the batteries life by reducing the "memory" effect sometimes found in rechargeable batteries.  You even get a DC adapter for your vehicle's cigarette lighter adapter.

A notable feature of this revolutionary long range phone is an integrated V.S.W.R. (voltage standing wave ratio) protection device. This device closely monitors the voltage of the incoming and outgoing signals. If there is a mismatch in voltage, the system automatically shuts down to prevent possible damage to the phone. The Star2k also has an adjustable RF transmission power level; RF transmission is automatically lowered when the user is in close proximity to the base to conserve battery life.  To further prolong the battery, the phone automatically drops into power save mode when out of range, monitoring for a signal every few seconds.  Signal strength is continually displayed on the handset LCD.

Other notable features include 2 way paging with full duplex intercom, music on hold capability, and a 20 number memory. The user will also enjoy the illuminated key pad and LCD display (on both the base station and remote handset), and the base station speaker phone.  A timer to monitor call length, any key answer, low battery alarm with power status display, programmable flash time, last number redial, adjustable ring tone, adjustable voice and ring volume, tone/pulse selection, and over 65,000 security code combinations are all also standard. A voice military grade voice scrambler can be added if desired.
