PAL camcorder A PAL camcorder allows the user to take advantage of the superior analog system that is the most widely-used in the world. There are three types of analog systems: NTSC (used here in the United States), SECAM, and PAL, which is the world favorite, and used in much of Europe, Africa, China, India, and the Middle East.
A PAL camcorder is the clear choice for anyone who is going to live overseas, or who wants to travel extensively and watch his or her videos abroad. The good news is that PAL looks better, the picture is clearer, and the colors more consistent. The NTSC system that we have in the United States is inferior, and was created simply to add color to the old black-and-white television sets of the 1950s and '60s.
Why a PAL Camcorder?
One other bonus to a PAL camcorder is that they can be repaired while you are overseas. PAL camcorders have international warranties, whereas NTSC recorders can only be fixed in the U.S. If there is anyone you want to share tapes with outside of the United States, you probably want to go with a PAL camcorder.
To play your PAL tapes back here in the States, you will need a multi-system VCR. Fortunately, these are easy to find, and allow you to experience the superior PAL system. We take videos of the things that are most important to us, so it's important that we have the proper equipment with which to enjoy them. |
